Randomly went here after a concert and their Philly cheese steaks are pretty damn good! Was pleasantly surprised. Not your average donut shop I must say. Will definitely go back there again when I'm in the area after a show!

This classic style donut shop/cafe offers both sweet treats and satisfying bites with prices that are hard to beat. Of all the options, my favorite is the giant apple fritter with its crispy exterior and soft, apple-filled center. Not just a donut destination, they also serve up decent burgers for an easy lunch. Whether you're looking to make a quick stop for donuts and coffee or sit down for a burger, all-star's friendly staff has you covered.

I haven't lived in the city long, but I'm already considering this spot an SF gem. For those jaded by the lack of late-night options (i.e. open after 8:30pm...) this spot, being open 24/7, might relieve some of your woes. I'd passed by All Star Cafe all the time, but it wasn't until one fateful late night, struck with post-clubbing munchies, that brought me within proximity to give it a shot. I was craving something hearty, and the east-coaster in me naturally honed in on the philly cheesesteak, and boy was it the move. They make a meann philly cheesesteak. I didn't even realize it was a highly-rated item until writing this review. The cheesesteak is exceedingly reasonable in value. $12 for a decent amount of steak, sprinkled with griddled onions & green peppers, melted through and through with cheese, all served in a balanced bread-to-filling ratio. I gotta make note that the bread has this really satisfying chewiness to it. I was shocked that the sammie comes with a bag of chips (not stated on the menu). This might not seem like much, but in a city like this, in times like these... man those chips meant the world to me. I was actually so impressed with the cheesesteak, that I decided to really put my credibility on the line... bring some east coast friends and try the place again, but SOBER (all but 15hrs later). I'm happy to say that it lived up to the hype. Need I say more? (also, I got a different bag of chips, so to my knowledge the chips are selected at random... or maybe judgement of character. Who knows.) Note: Some characters hang around this spot late at night, so bring a buddy. Anyway, needless to say, I'll be happy to come back, day or night, sober or not, to support this place and to keep the late night cheesesteaks flowing. Godspeed all star.

It's just classic greasy spoon diner sandwiches (and I guess donuts). While it lacks ambiance, it's always open and it's pretty cheap. I like their bacon egg and cheese quite a bit and which they had NYC style kaiser rolls too.

I don't think I've ever rated this place before, but with everything changing so fast these days and places dropping off the map when we thought they'd last forever, I think it's time to speak my piece. I've lived in the city for over a decade, and although there are better donuts to be had in SF I've come here more often than anywhere else. Why is that, you ask? Simple: All Star is the most reliable food source in SoMa, and SoMa is the heart of our fair city. Overslept, late for work, no time to make brekkie? No problem! You're 60 seconds away from a glazed raised and a cup of joe in between buses. Leaving a show well after midnight, drunk and hangry? No problem! These fine folks will put bacon in a croissant and cure all your woes. Visiting your sweetie down town and want to surprise them with a sweet of their own? No problem! They have lemon bars. In other words, there may never be an adequate West Coast substitute for Waffle House, but All Star is the closest thing I've ever seen and this city NEEDS them. So for the sake of all us night-dancing weirdos, go buy a donut.

Great donuts, came once late night (order at counter outside) and today on a weekend day (inside). The bacon egg and cheese sandwich was also great. Coffee is a fine quick serve shop coffee. I'll come back here a lot for weekend breakfasts. The place was clean and covid measures were followed!
